Our standard

Every guide on boardinggate.io must be accurate on the day it is published and clearly dated so you can judge its freshness. We write for travelers making real decisions, so we prioritize primary sources over convenience.

Sourcing

We treat official sources as the baseline, not secondary references:

• Entry and visa information is checked against official government portals, embassy websites, and IATA TIMATIC data.
• Baggage and airline policies are verified against each airline’s own published rules and conditions of carriage.
• EU261 and UK261 compensation figures are based on the published regulation text (Regulation EC 261/2004 and The Air Passenger Rights and Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019).
• Schengen stay calculations follow the rules defined in the Schengen Borders Code (Regulation EU 2016/399).
• We link to the primary source wherever possible so you can verify it yourself.

How tools are built

Our interactive tools (Schengen Calculator, Visa Checker, EU261 Calculator, Packing List Generator, and others) are built from the same official sources as our guides. Tool logic is tested against known scenarios before launch and re-tested when regulations change. All tools run client-side in your browser — they do not store, transmit, or log the data you enter.

Updates and corrections

Guides and tools are re-reviewed when:

• A regulation or policy changes (visa rule updates, airline policy revisions, new Schengen member states).
• A reader reports an error — correction reports are prioritized over other editorial work.
• We identify outdated information during routine review.

Corrections are made promptly. Significant corrections — ones that would change a traveler’s decision — are noted in the article. Every page carries a visible “last updated” date. Spotted something wrong? Tell us.

Independence

boardinggate.io is independently owned. No airline, travel agency, booking platform, or government body has editorial control over our content. Advertising and editorial are kept strictly separate:

• Ads are clearly distinguished from editorial content.
• Advertisers cannot influence guide recommendations, tool outputs, or article conclusions.
• If we recommend a paid product or use affiliate links, that is disclosed on the page, near the top and before the first affiliate link, and explained in our Affiliate Disclosure. Affiliate links carry the rel="sponsored" attribute.
• Commission rates never decide what we recommend. Where a free or official option exists, such as a government visa portal, we point to it first.

AI usage

We use AI tools to assist with research, drafting, and code. All AI-assisted content is reviewed, fact-checked against primary sources, and edited by a human before publication. AI does not make editorial decisions — it does not choose what we cover, what we recommend, or what we link to.
