How the credit card lounge matcher works

Airport lounge access from a credit card almost always runs through a membership, not the card itself. Your card enrols you in a network such as Priority Pass, LoungeKey, or DragonPass, or it opens a brand of lounge such as the Amex Centurion Lounges, and that membership is what the door checks. Choose your card network and tier, pick an airport, and this tool shows which lounges there accept the memberships your card includes, so you can answer the real question: which card gets me into a lounge here.

Which cards give airport lounge access

Lounge access is a premium benefit, so it sits with the higher tiers of each network:

  • American Express Platinum and Centurion open the Centurion Lounges plus Priority Pass and other networks.
  • Visa Infinite commonly includes Priority Pass, LoungeKey, or DragonPass, depending on the issuing bank.
  • World Elite Mastercard usually includes LoungeKey or Priority Pass, again set by the issuer.
  • Diners Club gives access to a wide lounge network of its own through DragonPass and partners.
  • UnionPay Diamond and JCB premium cards include lounge access, strongest across Asia.

Why Visa and Mastercard benefits vary

Unlike American Express, Visa and Mastercard do not issue cards themselves. A bank issues a Visa Infinite or a World Elite Mastercard and decides which lounge benefit to attach, so the same tier can include unlimited Priority Pass in one country and nothing in another. Always confirm the exact lounge benefit with your issuing bank rather than assuming it from the network and tier alone.

Does the Amex Gold card have lounge access?

No. The Amex Gold card earns strong rewards but includes no lounge access of any kind. The same is true of standard Visa, Mastercard, and most mid-tier cards. For lounges you need a premium tier such as Amex Platinum, Visa Infinite, or World Elite Mastercard.

Priority Pass, LoungeKey, and DragonPass

These are the three big independent networks, and many premium cards hand you one of them. Priority Pass is the largest, with more than 1,500 lounges worldwide. LoungeKey is run by the same company and used widely by Visa and Mastercard issuers. DragonPass is strong across Asia and the Middle East. In practice they often contract with the same independent lounges, such as Plaza Premium, which is why one airport lounge can accept all three.

Guests and fees

Guest rules depend on the card and the issuer, not the network alone. Some cards give unlimited visits and a free guest, others charge for guests or cap the number of visits per year, and some allow only the cardholder. Check your card’s terms before relying on bringing someone in, and keep a backup, since lounges can refuse entry when full.

Frequently asked questions

The Amex Platinum and Centurion open the widest set of networks, including the Centurion Lounges and Priority Pass. Among worldwide networks, a Visa Infinite or a World Elite Mastercard with Priority Pass or LoungeKey gives strong access, though the exact benefit depends on the issuing bank.
Usually, but it depends on the bank that issued it. Many Visa Infinite cards include Priority Pass, LoungeKey, or DragonPass, while some include none. Because Visa does not issue the card itself, you should confirm the lounge benefit with your issuing bank.
No. The Amex Gold card has no lounge access. For American Express lounge access you need the Platinum or Centurion card. Standard Visa and Mastercard tiers also have no lounge access.
Both are independent lounge networks run by the same company, and they share many of the same lounges. Priority Pass is the consumer membership used by many cards, while LoungeKey is used mainly by Visa and Mastercard issuers. DragonPass is a third network, strongest in Asia and the Middle East.
Priority Pass is an independent network that many cards include, covering more than 1,500 lounges run by different operators. Centurion Lounges are owned by American Express and open only to Platinum and Centurion cardholders. They are usually more upscale but far fewer in number.
It depends on the card and issuer. Some premium cards include a free guest or unlimited visits, others charge a guest fee or cap visits per year, and some admit only the cardholder. Check your specific card’s terms before relying on bringing someone with you.

About this tool. This free Boarding Gate matcher maps card networks and tiers to the lounge memberships they commonly include and shows representative lounges at major airports. Visa and Mastercard benefits are set by the issuing bank and vary by country, lounge operators and access rules change, and this is a planning guide, not a guarantee. Always confirm your exact benefit with your card issuer and check live access in the Priority Pass, LoungeKey, or lounge app before you travel.
