Ethiopian Calendar Converter

How to use the converter

Pick a direction, enter a date, and read the result along with the day of the week. Choose Gregorian to Ethiopian to turn a standard date into the Ethiopian calendar, or Ethiopian to Gregorian to do the reverse by entering the day, the month, and the year. Today’s Ethiopian date is shown at the top of the page and updates on its own, so you can check it at a glance without entering anything.

Today’s date in the Ethiopian calendar

The Ethiopian year runs about seven to eight years behind the Gregorian year, and it begins on 11 September. The converter does the arithmetic for you and shows the current Ethiopian day, month, and year, so you always have an accurate answer for today.

Converting dates both ways

The tool handles any date in either direction and returns the matching weekday, which is the same in both calendars even though the names differ.
