Fee and DCC warning
If an ATM or card machine at SIN offers to charge you in your home currency, decline and choose SGD. That offer is Dynamic Currency Conversion: the machine sets its own exchange rate, usually a few percent worse than your card network's. Check the operator fee on screen before you confirm, and cancel if it is high.

Operators: Travelex. Airport counters price in a margin; compare the quote with the mid-market rate in your banking app first.

Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) ATMs and Currency Exchange: Singapore Airport Money Guide
This guide lists every ATM and currency exchange point we could confirm at Singapore Changi Airport, sorted by terminal and by which side of security it sits on. Use the finder above to filter by terminal. Below, you will find how to get Singapore dollar (SGD) at the lowest cost, whether you are landing in Singapore or only passing through SIN on a connection, and which screens and counters to say no to.
Changi lists 23 ATM spots across Terminals 1 to 4 and Jewel, all open 24 hours, with DBS, OCBC and UOB in almost every terminal. Travelex runs 14 money changer booths in Terminals 1, 2 and 3, all open 24 hours.
Terminal financial overview
Changi publishes its money services in more detail than almost any other airport. Its directory lists 23 ATM locations across Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Jewel, every one open 24 hours. DBS, OCBC and UOB machines are in almost every terminal, with HSBC, Citibank, Maybank, Bank of China, ICBC and State Bank of India at some.
Travelex is the money changer, with 14 booths in Terminals 1, 2 and 3. All of them are open 24 hours: in the public departure halls, in the Terminal 3 arrival hall, and in the transit areas on both the arrival (Level 1) and departure (Level 2) sides. Changi's directory lists no Travelex booth in Terminal 4, so use the ATMs there.
Across 5 terminals, this page lists 23 ATM locations (8 airside, 15 landside) and 9 exchange counter, kiosk or machines (5 airside, 4 landside). ATM brands include DBS, UOB, HSBC, ICBC, OCBC, SBI. Terminal 3 has the widest choice.
- Terminal 1: Many international airlines; linked to Jewel. 5 ATM locations, 3 exchange points.
- Terminal 2: Singapore Airlines and Star Alliance partners, among others. 6 ATM locations, 3 exchange points.
- Terminal 3: Singapore Airlines' main terminal, plus other airlines. 7 ATM locations, 3 exchange points.
- Terminal 4: Selected airlines; check your booking. 3 ATM locations, 0 exchange points.
- Jewel Changi Airport: The public shopping complex linked to Terminal 1. 2 ATM locations, 0 exchange points.
Inside vs. outside security strategy
Arriving, you pass the Level 1 transit booths before immigration. Unless you need cash for a specific reason, wait until the public arrival hall, where you get the choice of several banks' ATMs and the Travelex booths side by side.
Connecting at Changi, you do not need Singapore dollars: the transit areas take cards everywhere. If you want currency for your next stop, the Level 2 transit booths in Terminals 1, 2 and 3 sit close to DBS, OCBC and UOB ATMs, so you can compare a withdrawal with a booth quote.
As a rule at SIN: withdraw SGD from a bank ATM landside when you arrive, buy only small amounts at a counter, and sell leftover Singapore dollars back before security when you leave. Airside counters exist for convenience, not value, and once you are through passport control you cannot walk back out to compare.
| Option | Typical cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Pay by card in SGD | Lowest with a no-foreign-fee card | Transport, shops, food |
| Bank ATM, landside arrivals | Low: your bank’s fee plus any on-screen operator fee | A cash float on arrival |
| Airside ATM | Low to medium, same rules | Connections, last-minute cash |
| Pre-ordered currency | Medium: better than the walk-up rate | Larger amounts, planned trips |
| Travelex walk-up counter | Highest: margin built into the rate | Small top-ups, selling leftovers |
Avoiding Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) markups
Dynamic Currency Conversion is the offer to charge a foreign card in its home currency instead of SGD. It looks helpful because you see a familiar number, but the ATM or shop sets the exchange rate, and it is usually several percent worse than the rate Visa or Mastercard would apply. Airports are where most travellers meet it first.
Singapore card terminals and some ATMs will offer to charge a foreign card in its home currency. The prompt is often phrased as "Pay in your currency?" Decline it and pay in SGD; the conversion offered at the counter is almost always worse than your card network's rate.
- At an ATM, when the screen asks to convert or offers a "guaranteed rate", choose decline or without conversion.
- At a card terminal, if asked "SGD or your currency?", pick SGD. If staff choose for you, ask them to redo it.
- Read the operator fee on the ATM screen before you confirm. If it is high, cancel and try another bank's machine.
- Check your receipt: a printed exchange rate or the word "DCC" means a conversion was applied.
Local cash vs. card tips for Singapore
Singapore is largely cashless for visitors. The MRT and public buses accept contactless bank cards through SimplyGo, taxis and Grab take cards, and most shops accept tap-to-pay. Hawker centres are the main exception: many stalls take cash or local QR payments only, so a few Singapore dollars in small notes help.
Before you fly, check two things with your bank: the foreign transaction fee on card payments and the fee for overseas ATM withdrawals. A card that waives both makes paying in SGD the cheapest way to spend in Singapore. Tell your bank you are travelling if it still asks, carry a backup card from a different network, and keep the airport counter for small top-ups only.
Prices and operators at airports change. We checked this page against the official Changi and operator listings on 20 October 2026; confirm hours on the airport's own map on the day you travel.
